The Ranfurly Sheild at Parkvale!

Yesterday we had the Ranfurly Sheild at Parkvale. We got to hear about the history of the "Log of Wood" from Simon Tremaine and meet some of the Magpies. Check out the photo of us with the Sheild!

Nga Rakau Iti Dance Festival

Last week, Nga Rakau Iti had it's Dance Festival down at Karamu High School. We have practiced for this festival all term and it was a real success on the night with the hall full to bursting. Check out these great dance moves!

Commonwealth Games Day

We have been following the Commonwealth games in Glasgow and  we even got to talk to the cycling coach on Skype! On Friday we decided to have a games day of our own. All of Nga Rakau iti got to participate in a range of different events where we all competed in teams to try and win some medals. Check us out in action!

Room 16 Assembly Item

Last Friday, Room 16 performed their assembly item about the Commonwealth Games. Everybody performed really well, telling the audience about the Games, acting out different sports and singing a song about togetherness, Tutira mai nga iwi.

Matariki Celebrations

Yesterday, our class was lucky enough to see a performance by the Kahurangi Maori Dance Theatre Company. They are amazing singers and dancers, with great poi and taiaha routines. The show told the story of Matariki and why it is such an important celebration. Ka mau te wehi!

Barefoot 7's Rugby

Yesterday, a few students from Room 16 were lucky enough to go to the Barefoot 7's, a inter-school rugby tournament at Akina Park. We had a great day and it was a good opportunity for students to test out their skills for the upcoming rugby season.
